CANBERRA, Australia -- Wallabies flanker David Pocock will miss the rest of the Super 15 after undergoing left knee surgery on Wednesday for the second time in a year. Pocock was hurt in the ACT Brumbies 27-14 win over the Western Force on Saturday in Perth. He ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament, the same injury he suffered in the fourth round of the Super 15 last year. The first full knee reconstruction sidelined him from rugby for the rest of 2013. "Having worked so hard to get himself back to peak physical condition over the last 12 months its impossible not to feel for David," Brumbies director of rugby Laurie Fisher said in a statement on the team website. "What we must remember is that David is still young and will have more opportunities to play professional rugby in the future. Guys like Ben Mowen (neck) and Christian Lealiifano (right ankle) are living proof that you can make a successful comeback from a recurring injury and Id expect to see David bounce back in the same way." The Raptors guard recalled a Decembers night in Dallas almost four years ago. It was eerily similar to the unenviable situation the Thunder found themselves in at the Air Canada Centre on Tuesday. In the second game of a back-to-back, having lost in Memphis the day before, Toronto dressed just eight players against the hosting Mavericks on Dec. 28, 2010. It was also a Tuesday night. Without nearly half their roster, including the injured Andrea Bargnani and Jose Calderon, the Raptors stunned the Mavs, who - to be fair - were missing Dirk Nowitzki. We had [eight] dudes and Julian Wright was our point guard, DeRozan said. I remember that. So, yeah, I know how it feels on their side. The Mavs? Well, that was just their sixth loss in 30 games to begin the season. Dont worry about them, though. They would be just fine.
