SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The Arizona Coyotes spent four years trying to avoid the distractions of not having an owner, focused on winning games while looking over their shoulders at what was going on off the ice. Some much-needed stability appeared to be in place last year, when IceArizona purchased the team from the NHL.But, as has been the case throughout this saga, another twist was in store, this one coming when IceArizona acknowledged it was in negotiations with a potential new investor. This turn was met with a shrug.Though details of the potential deal are foggy, even to the players and coaches on the team, its fairly clear that the team is not going anywhere anytime soon.Besides, the Coyotes have been through this many, many times before and are certainly used to it.When you first hear about it, its just What are the details about it? And once you look at it, it changes nothing for us, Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said Friday. This isnt staying or leaving. This is businessmen doing what they do, so this has zero effect on us.Even so, the latest news had to send a jolt through Coyotes fans in the desert. It came on Thursday, when the New York Post reported IceArizona was in the process of selling a majority stake in the Coyotes to Andrew Barroway, a Philadelphia hedge fund manager whos made unsuccessful attempts to buy the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders.Speculation swirled throughout the day until the Coyotes released a statement confirming that they are in discussions with an unsolicited potential investor. In the release, the Coyotes said no deal was in place and no members of the IceArizona group would give up ownership of the team, calling it a positive step for the future of the team.NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly later said there should be no concerns about ownership of the Coyotes nor were there any plans for relocating the franchise. The news barely caused a ripple among the Coyotes players as they got ready for the teams final preseason game Friday night.Im pretty sure no ones too concerned in our room, Arizona captain Shane Doan said. This is a minor, minor, minor, minor thing compared to the previous five years. Its not a big deal. What the Coyotes went through before was a wild ride.It started in 2009, when owner Jerry Moyes took the team into bankruptcy in a failed attempt to sell it to Blackberry founder Jim Balsillie, who planned to move the franchise to Hamilton, Ontario. The NHL and city of Glendale fought the plan in court and the team was sold to the league later that year.Over the next four years, one potential owner stepped forward and fell back as rumours of relocating the franchise swirled.Renaissance Sports and Entertainment, managing partner of IceArizona, finally got a deal done last year.Even then it wasnt easy.RSE reached a purchase agreement with the NHL, but went through tense negotiations with the city of Glendale over a lease agreement for Jobing.com Arena. Amid speculation that the NHL would move the team to Seattle if the $225 million deal fell through, Glendales City Council approved it by a 4-3 vote and IceArizona later completed its purchase from the league. The members of IceArizona, headed by George Gosbee and Anthony LeBlanc, appeared to be pleased with the team in their first season and the team took another step toward stability by signing a nine-year partnership with Gila River Casinos that includes naming rights for the arena. But just when the foundation appeared to be stable, it wobbled at least a little bit with this latest news, even if it didnt shake the Coyotes.I kind of chuckled in the fact that we were going to get asked questions about ownership again, Doan said. Other than that, nothings really changed so its not anything Im really too worried about. Danielle Colaprico Jersey . Kerr said he had dinner with Jackson, his former coach with Chicago and the new Knicks team president, on Friday night and they talked again Saturday. Kerr is in New York to work the game between the Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors for TNT. Kristen Hamilton Jersey . Canada wasnt in the game from the outset. Head coach Dan Church left Calgary in the morning without addressing the players. He told The Canadian Press he felt the organization lacked confidence in his ability to defend the Olympic gold medal in February. Emily Pickering Jersey . After making his All-Star debut in Fridays Rising Stars Challenge, the Raptors sophomore centre wont be sticking around for the duration of the weekends festivities, thinking about the big picture instead. ARLINGTON, Texas -- Rougned Odor and the Texas Rangers took full advantage of an unprecedented bad night by Baltimore shortstop J.J. Hardy to avoid a three-game sweep after blowing a big early lead. Odour had a leadoff single in the seventh and scored the tiebreaking run with the help of two errors by Hardy as the Rangers went on to beat the Orioles 8-6 on Thursday night. "He usually comes up with that stuff. He didnt come up with it tonight, and it opened the inning us," Rangers manager Ron Washington said of the Hardy miscues. "Hes a class infielder, and it just goes to show you it can happen to anyone." The Rangers blew an early 5-0 lead, but their three-run seventh started when speedy No. 9 batter Odor had an infield single off reliever Brian Matusz (2-2) and moved up after Hardy, who had a throwing error after fielding the ball in the hole. "I had to make a quick throw on (Odour) and I just threw it a little too low," Hardy said. "The next one, I cant explain it. I just missed it." Odour came home when Hardy misplayed a grounder hit by Elvis Andrus to make it 6-5. Alex Rios and Chris Jimenez then added consecutive RBI singles off Preston Guilmet, the fifth Baltimore pitcher. "Nobody in this clubhouse thinks twice about it," Baltimore manager Buck Showalter said. "Its an honour to watch him play every night and Im blessed to have had him pass my way, so we dont give that two thoughts." Hardy, an All-Star for the second time last season, also had a throwing error in the fourth for the first three-error game in his career. In 1,152 games at shortstop since 2005 before Thursday, he had only one multi-error game -- seven years ago when he had two in a game for Milwaukee. Adam Jones had three RBIs for the Orioles, including his two-run double in the fifth and a homer leading off the eighth. Nick Markakis also homered for Baltimore, a two-run shot in the third. Robbie Ross (2-4) struuck out two in two scoreless innings before Tanner Scheppers, another reliever who started this season in the Texas starting rotation, gave up the homer to Jones.dddddddddddd. Joakim Soria worked a perfect ninth for his 12th save in 13 chances. Scheppers, the opening day starter who went 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA in four starts before going on the disabled list with right elbow inflammation, was recalled from an injury rehab assignment earlier Thursday. Baltimore starter Chris Tillman faced only 11 batters, and was gone without recording an out in the second inning. Nine of those batters reached, including all five in the second. Tillman pitched in place of Miguel Gonzalez, the right-hander who was scratched a day before his scheduled start because of soreness in his side. Mitch Moreland, the Rangers No. 3 batter, had a slicing two-run single to left in the first. Leonys Martin led off the Texas second with a single before Michael Choices two-run homer to left. After Odor and Shin-Soo Choo walked, Andrus had an RBI single that made it 5-0 and chased Tillman. Jones doubled off Texas starter Colby Lewis, then scored on a single by Chris Davis that tied it 5-all. But Lewis wasnt blaming centre fielder Martin, who had the ball hit by Jones come out of his glove while falling to the ground on what would have been the third out. "Its one of those outings where Im excited we won," Lewis said. "I dont think it should have been in that situation. I put it on myself. Im not really worried about that." NOTES: Texas had lost seven in a row against Baltimore. ... The Orioles finished 5-5 on a 10-game road trip. They play their next 10 games, and 20 of 26, at home. ... Texas picked right-hander Luis Ortiz from Sanger High School in California with the 30th overall pick in the draft. That was the Rangers compensation pick for the Orioles signing Nelson Cruz, who was 0 for 4 with three strikeouts in the series finale. ' ' '
