The Royals capped the Antworten

DALLAS - The Edmonton Oilers look to stop their recent failures against the Dallas Stars tonight in Texas. The Stars beat the Oilers for the seventh time in the previous eight meetings, with Edmontons lone win in that span coming on Feb. 28 in Dallas to snap a five-game series road losing streak. Dallas has won 12 of the previous 14 meetings overall and 11 of the last 14 played at home. The Oilers are trying to get on a bit of a roll, having won four of five before a 4-2 setback to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday. Sam Gagner and David Perron both scored late one night after Edmonton notched a 3-0 win over the hosting Nashville Predators. Ilya Bryzgalov made 33 saves to record the shutout over the Predators, but let up four goals on 23 shots against the Blue Jackets before being removed in favor of Devan Dubnyk to begin the third period. Dubnyk stopped all five shots he faced in relief. "We werent ready to go out of the gate," said Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins. "We just seemed to be a second late all night." Though Taylor Hall had a seven-game point streak halted in defeat, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins extended his run to five straight games, having totaled a goal and seven assists over his point streak. Jordan Eberle added an assist to give him five goals and eight points over his last six games. Dubnyk is just 1-5-1 with a 3.15 GAA in his career when facing the Stars, but gave up only one goal on 24 shots faced in the earlier loss. Bryzgalov is 13-8-2 with a 2.27 GAA in his career versus the Stars. The Stars have lost three of their past four games, scoring just four goals in the three setbacks. They did pick up a big 6-3 win over Anaheim on Tuesday, but then dropped a disappointing 2-1 shootout decision to the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday. Rich Peverley scored in the first period and helped extend the shootout by following Patrick Sharps second-round tally with one of his own. The next 16 shooters then came up empty before Chicagos Ben Smith wristed a shot over the glove of Kari Lehtonen in the 11th round. Lehtonen made 25 saves through overtime, while Shawn Horcoff assisted on Peverleys regulation tally. "When you lose one like that it hurts. But to know you got a point and played them as tough as you did, you can take something away from that," said Stars coach Lindy Ruff. The loss wasnt the only thing that hurt Dallas as defenseman Stephane Robidas suffered a broken leg in the game and is expected to miss 4-to-6 months after undergoing surgery on Saturday. The steady 36-year-old had four goals and one assist in 24 games with a plus-7 rating. Dallas recalled defenseman Jamie Oleksiak from the American Hockey League as an option to replace Robidas in the lineup. Ruff could also use Kevin Connauton, while veteran Aaron Rome is close to making his season debut after battling injury. Minus Robidas, the Stars will try to beat the Oilers for the second time this season, having notched a 3-0 victory in Edmonton on Nov. 13. Lehtonen made 22 saves in his first career shutout over the Oilers, improving to 10-3-0 with a 2.08 goals against average in 13 career meetings. Peverley scored in the second period to break a scoreless game and both Tyler Seguin and Antoine Roussel had empty-net goals. Moustakas put a capper on the festivities by homering twice to help the Kansas City Royals snap a four-game losing streak with a 7-1 rout. Afterward, Moustakas was asked if he was aware of the promotion. "Oh, I knew," he said. "I was telling everybody that today was my day. It just ended up working out that way." Moustakas, who has 12 homers this season, went 3 for 5 with three RBIs. He raised his batting average to .198 The Royals entered the game with a major league-worst 55 homers and had managed a total of six runs during the losing streak. "Hes starting to swing the bat pretty good," manager Ned Yost said of Moustakas. "Weve seen him in spurts, it doesnt matter whos pitching. When hes right, hes putting good swings on the ball. "Tonight he was really seeing the ball good, he was in a good position to hit and he was really driving the ball." Bruce Chen (2-2) allowed one run and five hits in five innings to get the win. Chen has 82 career victories to tie former New York Yankees great Mariano Rivera for the most wins by a Panamanian. "For me, hes one of the best pitchers to ever pitch in the big leagues and to tie him for most wins by a Panamanian really means a lot to me, and my family is very happy," Chen said. Adam Dunn went 2 for 4 with a solo homer for the White Sox, who had won three of four. Chicago starter Scott Carroll (4-6) allowed five runs and 11 hits in five-plus innings. "I thought I was just rusty; thats kind of the way I felt," Carroll said. "Overall, I just didnt think I had my best stuff. But I have to be better, the sixth inning is what really got me. Up until that point I just felt rusty." The Royals had a players-only meeting before the game and needed a good start. Moustakas provided it when he led off the second with a long homer to right field to make it 1-0. The White Sox tied it when Dunn led off the fourth with a homer to left.dddddddddddd. The Royals broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning thanks to some timely hits — another missing element during the losing streak — and White Sox miscues. Billy Butler led off with a double and the next batter, Raul Ibanez, drove him in with a double to make it 2-1. Alcides Escobar followed with an infield hit to put runners on first and third, and Ibanez scored on a passed ball as Nori Aoki walked for a 3-1 lead. That was all for Carroll as Javy Guerra entered. Guerra, though, immediately dug a deeper hole with his defence. With runners on first and second, Jarrod Dyson bunted back to the vicinity of the mound. Guerra fielded the ball cleanly, but his throw to first base was wild and sailed by second baseman Gordon Beckham and down the right field line, allowing Escobar to score on the throwing error. The Royals capped the scoring in the inning with a sacrifice fly by Omar Infante to make it 5-1. "The tack-on runs were huge for us right there," Yost said. Moustakas added a two-run homer in the eighth. NOTES: Chicago manager Robin Ventura said he decided to give 1B Jose Abreu the night off after watching the major League home run leader move around looking a bit stiff during Mondays game. "Going through the All-Star stuff and everything else, not having a break, you just see little things," Ventura said. Abreu is not injured and should play in the series finale on Wednesday. ... Royals 1B Eric Hosmer missed a second straight game with a bruised right hand. He was hit with a pitch from Jon Lester of the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.
